Actress Demi Moore has checked into a treatment facility after paramedics were called to her home. Her spokesperson says that due to the recent stresses in her life she has quote, “chosen to seek professional assistance to treat her exhaustion”. But other sources say that she is getting help for substance abuse.

The nominees for the 84th annual Academy Awards have been announced. Martin Scorcese’s “Hugo” led the pack with 11 nominations, including Best Director and Picture. “The Help”, “Moneyball” and the French silent film “The Artist” were all recognized with multiple nominations for acting and Best Picture nods. The Oscars will be handed out February 26th.

The Iranian government has banned actress Golshifteh Farahani from ever returning to the country. Reason being, one single nude photo of her recently appeared in French magazine Madame Le Figaro. The Iranian actress, who’s starred in films alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe, says she agreed to the photo shoot to protest restrictive Islamic codes.

Mark Wahlberg has issued a full apology for comments he recently made to Men’s Journal about 9/11. The Hollywood A-lister was quoted as saying that if he were on one of the planes that day, it would have never gone done. Public backlash was immediate, prompting Wahlberg to make a quick about-face. He’s now calling the remarks “ridiculous,” “insensitive,” and “irresponsible.”

Ricky Gervais says he’s done hosting the Golden Globes. In the wake of his third straight hosting gig this past weekend, the Brit funnyman says he will NOT be back for a fourth. He posted on his website that he told his agent to NEVER let him be talked into the gig again. Say it ain’t so Ricky!

The 2012 Golden Globe Awards are in the books. Last year’s controversial host Ricky Gervais was back at the helm, but kept a friendlier tone this time around. The silent French film “The Artist” fared well, with wins as Best Picture Musical or Comedy, Best Actor in a Comedy, and Best Score. Other major awards went to George Clooney, Meryl Streep, and Michelle Williams.

In honor of The Simpsons’ upcoming 500th episode, producers are trying to get into the record books yet again. They’re arranging The Simpsons Ultimate Fan Marathon Challenge, where fans can try and break the 86-plus hour Guinness record for continuous TV watching. Superfans will come together in Los Angeles to – possibly – watch all 500 episodes of the legendary animated show.

University College London researchers have discovered that the human brain begins declining much earlier than originally thought. Their findings show that memory, vocabulary and comprehension skills can start tapering off as early as age 45. This is a far cry from previous studies that suggest mental functioning remains intact until at least age 60.
